This is one of a series of fourteen electric hammered dulcimer demonstration videos, described in detail in
"Instrumental Demonstrations: Sounds and Rhythm Styles".

My purpose is both to show the sounds the dulcimer makes, as well as demonstrate a general style of playing. What I usually do is play solo to support my vocals, but I often repeat this as an instrumental break, and it seves to show both the sound of the dulcimer and general slow tempo rhythm styles. What I did here was think of songs for which the guitar part would natural be some sort of finger-style or slow chording, rather than any driving rhythm. They are traditional and original songs mostly, since it was a lot easier for me to play something specific than to improvise. In other videos in the series I do play one specific song, showing a specific composition. But In this video I wanted to concentrate more on the general ideas than specific compositions. I want to serve many purposes, from the most general inerest to showing artists and producers what the dulcimer can do, a starting point for them to imagine what they might do with it, to a serious lesson for anyone trying to play modern rhythm hammered dulcimer.
