Back in 2007 while restoring the house, I was frustrated at not getting being able to work on any of the music projects. Of course, the plan was always to get the work on the house done first, then start on the music projects, over the course of several years “settling down” more just to focus on all these big jobs I couldn’t get done while being on the road all the time. I thought maybe I could get started on some small project late at night after the regular work was done. I tried to start on the pickup winding project. This turned out to be a mistake, not the machine I built, but trying to do it late at night after working a 16 hour day. It wasn’t a total loss, though, because I used a couple parts of this machine in the one I built next. So I include this as the first step and just part of the story. “If at first you don;t succeed..”

I also realized I had to just deal with the frustration of this new way of working, focusing on single projects instead of juggling many. I had to follow the plan and focus on the work I had to do, and not try anything critical at 3 in the morning after working all day and half the night!
